Long Paddock

Long Paddock is a twice yearly event that brings together presenters and producers from all around Australia to generate national tours. Presenters attend to see a range of work that they may wish to program and producers attend to promote a production or meet presenters and other producers.

Pitching spots give producers the opportunity to promote their productions. Pitching is by invitation only and is as a result of high level of presenter votes during the Long Paddock voting round. Some additional pitching spots are also awarded to 'wild cards'.

Long Paddock timelines

The timelines from tour development to delivery are lengthy. Each Long Paddock is scheduled to coincide with Playing Australia grant rounds and this in turn has an impact on the touring dates being discussed at each forum. In general, September Long Paddock is the first attempt to program for two years ahead. ie the next Long Paddock will be concerned with touring in 2012:
